    Bio: 
    Dr. Vivek Nerikar was born in Des Moines, Iowa and has lived in Gainesville since 1973. He earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1998. Upon graduation, he continued his education and completed a General Practice residency at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Florida. "There is a shortage of dentists who see children, and I do not like to see children in dental need," he said. "I work with children because they have very distinctive personalities that bring a smile to my face." When Dr. Nerikar is away from the office, he enjoys Gator sports, playing basketball, football and reading.

    Bio: 
    Dr. Lauzan graduated from dental school in Cuba in 2000.  After dental school she practiced as a general dentist in Cuba for 6 years. She fled Cuba and arrived in the United States. She lived in Florida for 2 years before moving to New Jersey to complete the additional two years of schooling that would enable her to practice dentistry in the US. She graduated for New JerseySchoolDentalSchool in 2011. Dr. Lauzan, her husband and their daughter now call the Ocala area home.

    Dr. Morse earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California. Upon graduation she gained experience as an associate dentist with a corporate dental company in New Mexico. Dr. Morse had previous experience as dentist at her native country Colombia where she gained her DDS in year 2000. During this time she opened her first dental practice which focused in cosmetic dentistry.

    A 1987 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School at San Antonio, Dr. Timothy J. Morris received his active commission in the Navy the same year. He served with the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard for more than eight years earning many citations, medals and awards for distinguished service. While in the Armed Forces, he received extensive continuing education, including additional credentials in oral surgery and endodontics.

    Dr. Manoj Patel earned his dental degree in India and practiced as a General Dentist until 2002. He later moved to the United States to continue his passion for dentistry. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Florida and is a Gator fan. During his dental education at the University of Florida he completed various certifications in implant placement and Invisalign. Dr. Patel treats all phases of dentistry from simple filings to full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Patel joined the Christie Dental Practice Group in 2010.

    “Some people have anxiety and fear when coming to the dentistry. I find it rewarding to work through these obstacles and motivate the patient and reward them with a healthy smile.” 

    When Dr. Patel is away from the office he enjoys hobbies such as volleyball, tennis and cricket. He is actively involved in charitable dental camps and various cultural and religious activities in Brevard and Orange County.

  • Alexandros Tapper, DMD

    Dr. Tapper received a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and graduated with honors from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. She then moved to Gainesville, FL to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree (D.M.D) from the University Of Florida College Of Dentistry.

    During her time in dental school, Dr. Tapper had the privilege of being a part of mission trips to Jamaica and Guatemala. Following the completion of dental school, Dr. Tapper went on to further her education by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. She delivered care during that time in a Community Service Learning Center located in the rural town of Ahoskie, NC.

    Dr. Tapper is very committed to providing the best care to her patients.  While away from the office, Dr. Tapper enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and dancing.

  • Jayanthi Chopra, DDS, MD, Oral Surgeon
    Bio: 

    Dr. Chopra earned her Doctorate of Dentistry degree (D.D.S) in Case Western Reserve University and graduated at the top of her class.  Upon completion, she pursued a dual degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Allegheny General Hospital.  During her six years of residency training, she had comprehensive training in anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, benign pathology, trauma, and implants.  During her residency, she completed two years of general surgery training, and obtained her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree through Drexel University College of Medicine.

    Dr. Chopra also gave back to her community by volunteering in Catholic Charities in Pittsburgh, PA.  She has held hospital privileges throughout her practice. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and exploring Florida’s nature parks.

    Dr. Chopra is Board Certified with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is currently a member of the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

    Bio: 

    Dr. Natalia Valderrama graduated as a dentist, with honors, from Santo Tomas University in 1997 and in 1998 earned her Master’s in Education. She worked in private practice and also in rural underserved areas of Colombia and helped to develop dental programs for people in need of oral services. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Valderrama continued practicing General Dentistry in Colombia until her arrival into The United States.

    Dr. Valderrama furthered her education by completing a two year International Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at The Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester in New York and then she received her specialty certificate in Orthodontics and Dento-facial Orthopedics at the Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics.

    Dr. Valderrama is certified in Invisalign, Incognito lingual braces, ceramic esthetic brackets, and in the use of orthodontic micro implants (TAD’s) to treat all types of malocclusions for children, adolescents and adults.

    When Dr. Valderrama is away from the office, she enjoys volunteering at her daughter’s school, running, traveling, tennis, swimming and cooking South American dishes.

    Dr. Valderrama is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, and The Colombian Federation of Dentistry.

  • Simon T. Amir, DMD

    "My dad is a dentist, and I was always interested in what he did. I love making people comfortable, by really showing I care for them, and working with my hands to create beautiful smiles."

    Dr. Simon Amir was born in London, England. He has an identical twin brother, who is also in the dental field. Dr. Amir received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida in 2000. He continued his education at the University of Florida earning his Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 2003.

    Upon graduation, Dr. Amir began his career in a private practice in Hawthorne, Florida. He later joined Christie Dental Affiliations in 2007.

    When Dr. Amir is away from the office, he enjoys hobbies such as playing the guitar, drums, composing and recording music. He also enjoys studying and learning more about nutrition health and wellness.

  • Jamie Amir DDS, MS
    Bio: 

    Dr. Amir completed his dental training at Guy's Hospital in London. England in 2003. After graduation, he moved to Florida and completed two years of comprehensive dental implant training at the University of Florida Center for implant dentistry. He then obtained his certificate in Periodontics at the University of Florida Department of
    Periodontology. He received further training in dental implant and reconstructive surgery as well as comprehensive training in all aspects of periodontal care including minimally invasive periodontal plastic
    surgery, preventive treatment and advanced techniques for nonsurgical periodontal therapy.

    He passionately believes in preventive care and adopts a conservative philosophy when prescribing periodontal therapy. Extensive patient education in disease prevention forms a strong part of his treatment philosophy. He enjoys educating school children about dental disease and methods to help them keep their teeth and gums healthy in his free time. He is an avid musician. enjoying performing the Spanish guitar and also joining his identical twin brother. Dr. Simon Amir, in a rock band.

  • Diego Baratelli, DMD
    Bio: 

    Dr. Diego Baratelli completed his Bachelor and Master of Science degree with a specialization in Health Education and Behavior at the University of Florida in 2010. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in 2014, where he excelled and learned the latest that dentistry has to offer, including painless, cosmetic and digital CAD-CAM dentistry.

    Dr. Baratelli is a strong believer that the greatest medicine of all is teaching others how to prevent the need for it. Patient education is of paramount importance to him and he firmly believes that health is not merely the absence of disease but rather a state of overall well-being. He takes the time to listen to the needs of every patient and create a treatment plan that is tailored to their specific goals, and is well trained on delivering comfortable, painless care.

    Dr. Baratelli enjoys treating pediatric patients and patients with special needs. He was a volunteer and researcher at the Sidney Lanier Fitness and Research Program. This program is partners with the Sidney Lanier School in Gainesville, a school specializing in the education of students with intellectual disabilities.  During his studies, Dr. Baratelli also served as project manager of two National Institutes of Health-funded oral cancer grants. He has also organized several dental mission trips to serve indigent communities in rural Guatemala.

    Dr. Baratelli is trained in the most innovative techniques of cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He has had advanced education in root canal therapy and uses evidence-based practices on a daily basis. Dr. Baratelli has completed an academic CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) course to produce porcelain crowns chair side and eliminate the need for traditional impressions. Dr. Baratelli is currently in the process of becoming trained in Sleep Apnea management using oral appliances. In his spare time, Dr. Baratelli enjoys aviation, motorcycling, bicycling, fishing, and cooking.
