Originally from Bronx, New York, Dr. Herrera has lived in Ocala since 1994. She graduated cum laude in 2004 from the University of Miami, with a Bachelor of Science degree.
After obtaining her dental degree and licensure at the University of Florida on an Army Scholarship, she entered active duty service as a Captain in the Army. There she provided general dentistry services, implemented a Red Cross Dental Assisting Program for military personnel dependents, organized February’s National Children’s Dental Health month activities and provided training on various subjects such as DENCOM Infection Control Protocol, Sterilization Protocol, and proper Dental Health Record maintenance. During her military service, she earned two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon.
Although she is no longer in the military, Dr. Herrera’s Army values and work ethic are still very much a part of the person she is today. Dr. Herrera completed her active duty service in June 2015, and is enthusiastic about practicing in her hometown. She looks forward to providing high-quality, comprehensive dental care to the residents of Ocala. Dr. Herrera is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Central Florida District Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. While not practicing dentistry, Dr. Herrera enjoys traveling, performing outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.
